Hooky Happiness in the Sun

What are sunny Easter Weekends for?  Sitting outside with my wool and crochet hook.  It seems silly to be making a blanket as the summer months are gradually creeping nearer but it is also an activity which is easily done outside under an umbrella.  Above a little colour planning with the help of my daughter.
Yarn storage.
It is getting there and I have decided to add a black edging and join as I go to spur me on.
More details on this WIP and other projects on my blog HERE
I have also recently joined Instagram as well with the same title and my little blue flower logo.
See you there.

Winding yarn with an electric hand mixer

Is this the best hack for a crocheter? This is going to save me time and all the frustration of winding yarn.

From ugly chair to cute chair! New improved reading corner

I found this chair in my in-law's attic and thought it would be perfect for my daughter's reading corner because 2 people can squeeze in it and it is very comfortable. Only problem was it is very ugly! There are pen stains and worn out patches where holes are starting to form. I almost thought of leaving it until I bought some nice bright yarn and started making a new granny square blanket for it.

Here is the same chair all pretty with the granny square blanket and a cute patchwork pillow I made using Batik print fabric. We love siting here to read. At nights I also light LED candles and fairy lights and to make reading time really magical.

If any of you crocheter's have children and are looking for play related articles and tutorials, I have started a new blog 'We Are Happy Playing' I hope to put up some crochet patterns related to children's games soon.

New project for 2015

I ordered this lovely wool back in August.  It is one of the packs created by Attic24 and it is going to be my third blanket.
All of the squares will have a row of black yarn running round the outside and I have found a method on Youtube for joining them as I go along.  So there will not be any kind of pattern to this as such.
I shall be plotting my progress over on my blog, hopefully at least once a week as the day job tends to take up quite a bit of my time.
In between this I want to try and improve my pattern reading (or diagrams) as my goal is to crochet something to wear!
Could this be the year?

Picasso Inspired Crochet Granny Square Blanket

Picasso's Blue Period

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pablo Picasso, The Old Guitarist, 1903, Art Institute of Chicago

The Blue Period (Spanish: PerĂodo Azul) is a term used to define the works produced by Spanish painter Pablo Picasso between 1901 and 1904 when he painted essentially monochromatic paintings in shades of blue and blue-green, only occasionally warmed by other colors. These somber works, inspired by Spain and painted in Barcelona and Paris, are now some of his most popular works, although he had difficulty selling them at the time.
